What is MA-4046 (AlSi10Mg) used for?

MA-4046 (AlSi10Mg) is an aluminium welding wire for joint and repair welding of AlSi10Mg castings such as EN AC-43000 and EN AC-43100, and for wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). The silicon content of the filler should match the cast alloy as closely as possible. Mechanical properties can be improved by heat treatment.

  • Weld metal (typical): Rm 140 MPa; Rp0.2 70 MPa; A5 4 %
  • Diameters: MIG wire 1.2–2.4 mm, TIG rods 1.6–5.0 mm (1,000 mm long)
  • Packaging: spools from 0.5 kg (S 100) to 40 kg (B 400); drums: Eco drum 80 kg, Jumbo drum 140 kg; TIG rods in 2.5 kg tubes or 5/10 kg boxes
