What is MA-5183 (ER5183) used for?

MA-5183 (AlMg4.5Mn0.7, ER5183) is a naturally hard aluminium welding wire with high tensile strength and elongation for shipbuilding and rail vehicle construction. The weld metal is seawater resistant. Where high yield and tensile strength are decisive, the MIGAL.CO material calculator recommends a filler with 4.5–5 % Mg such as MA-5183. Typical base materials: EN AW-5083 and EN AW-5086 (AlMg4.5Mn / AlMg4), EN AW-5754 and EN AW-5052 (AlMg3 / AlMg2.5), AlMgSi alloys such as EN AW-6060, EN AW-6061 and EN AW-6063, and AlZnMg alloys such as EN AW-7020.
